Saman (Saw-Mawn) is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist based in Austin, TX. Practicing in Film Directing, Music, Ceramics, Video Expression and Writing.

Born in Tehran, Iran. Saman immigrated to central Texas with a traditional Persian background. Saman would glue his eyes to whatever the TV had to offer and was a constant companion while moving around a lot, acclimating to late 80’s/early 90’s America. His interest in filmmaking really began when he stumbled onto a film set while skateboarding in his cousin's neighborhood in L.A. He was enamored with all that was taking place behind the camera, wanting to understand every aspect of the mechanical yet fluid art of filmmaking. Finally landing in Austin in 1999, Saman has been working in Austin’s local film/commercial industry for over 20+ years in multiple departments, becoming familiar with both below and above the line.

In addition to his film work, Saman has a deep background in music and punk subculture. As the singer of Texas punk band Complete Control, he toured internationally. An experience that shaped his unique worldview, his ability to connect with all walks of life and adapt quickly to new environments.

Still an active musician focusing on electronic/synth driven music, live video FX and film scoring.

Saman's minimalist, guerrilla film style was born out of pure passion and resourcefulness, making art out of what he had available. This raw energy still shines through his work today.
